Brooklyn Bus Operator breaks environmental law
10:59 PM Feb 20 08 | This B47 bus operator at Kings Plaza leaves his bus on high idle while conversing with another driver in the street. The total length of idling was 10 minutes and 47 seconds. Federal law prohibits buses and trucks from idling over 3 minutes. Despite the laws put forth to protect society, the MTA chooses to ignore the law in addition to standards and ethics. Wasting fuel which comes out of the taxpayers pockets and contributing to global warming are unacceptable practices for the New York City Metropolitan Transit Authority. Hybrid buses are simply the object of meeting a quota in return for state funding. Until every deisel bus is replaced by hybrids, drivers who choose to ignore environmental concerns and federal law will be exposed. This is not a crusade. This is a method of exposing a problem when the MTA and city officials look the other way.
